Dear Colleagues;
We hope you are
doing well and having a great holiday season. Supreme has a new product based
on clinical experience of Dr. Charlie Fagenholz and
others.
NEW PRODUCT
Mimosa Supreme (Supreme
Nutrition Products 800-922-1744, shop.supremenutritionproducts.com) is pure
powdered Mimosa Pudica in a veggie cap. Like
all other Supreme products there are no fillers, binders, flow agents or other
substances added in the encapsulation process. Mimosa, also known as the
sensitivity plant, has been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes,
especially in Ayurvedic Medicine. Traditionally, this
plant has been used to combat many health challenges due to the beneficial
phytochemical presence of terpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, alkaloids,
quinines, phenols, tannins, saponins, and
coumarins. These uses include but are not limited to the following:
1) As a broad spectrum anti-microbial mimosa
demonstrates effectiveness against Aspergillus fumigatus, Citrobacter
divergens, Plasmodium berghei,
and Klebsiella pneumonia in studies (6). Clinically,
physicians have reported it to be effective in treating various parasites as well as various forms of Borrelia (14).
According to a few physicians that have used mimosa for a number of years “many
patients experience elimination of parasites into the toilet so they have to be
informed prior to starting the herb” that visible parasites are a possibility (14).
2) Mimosa is the go to
herb for Hemorrhoids in Ayurveda.
This is due to the amazing wound healing abilities of the methanolic extracts
of the plant. Traditionally the powder has been made into a paste and applied
topically but oral supplementation can be effective as well.
3) Anti-diarrheal activity was demonstrated on rats that were given
castor oil induced diarrhea and PGE2 induced enteropooling
along with reducing gut motility after a charcoal meal. The ethanolic
extract of Mimosa showed significant diarrhea inhibition (7).
4) Anti hepatotoxic activity
was demonstrated through the measurement of high serum SGOT, SGPT, ALP, and
total bilirubin in CCL4 induced liver damage in albino rats. Mimosa helped
achieve near normal levels within 14 days (3).
5) Anti-diabetic activity
was demonstrated in a study with rats on a high fructose diet. Mimosa reduced
the body weight, improved insulin sensitivity, lowered blood lipids and reduced
liver damage. Furthermore, blood tests showed in a different study that serum
cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and VLDL all decreased while HDL increased
(10).
6) Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity has been demonstrated due
to the flavonoid presence in the ethanolic extract.
7) Mimosa demonstrated potent anti-venom activity. This was
demonstrated by the inhibition of lethality, phospholipase activity, edema
forming activity, fibrinolytic activity and hemorrhagic activity of Naja naja and Bangarus
caerulus venoms (4).
8) Anti-ulcer activity
was demonstrated against pylorus ligation, aspirin and ethanol-induced ulcers
due to the plants ethanolic extract (11).
9) Mimosa does possess anti-convulsant
activity, specifically for drug-induced seizures. It also demonstrated to be an
antagonist for N-methyl-D-aspartate induced turning behavior (13).
To quote Fagenholz:
“In conclusion, Mimosa possesses great medicinal properties. It seems to
benefit the majority of patients with microbial issues. However, we do
view it as an elite anti-parasitic due to its action on large
intestinal worms. This herb needs to be considered in any resistant parasitic
or microbial patient cases and in all patients that test positive for Borrelia”
(14).
Mimosa Pudica
is listed as a non-toxic plant for humans on the University of California's
list of safe and poisonous garden plants (15). It is also listed as safe for
humans and pets on the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture and
Natural Resources website.
Dosage: The dosage is 2
capsules in the morning and 2 before bed on an empty stomach ideally. Some
sensitive patients may experience discomfort and need to start at a lower does.
However, we have had some of the most sensitive patients not have any
discomfort at all so we advise to just monitor your patients.
Contraindications: Mimosa should not be taken
during pregnancy or while nursing or in children under 6. As with other
supplements children’s dosage should be determined by weight.

My comments: One may ask why
is supreme coming out with a new antimicrobial? In my practice we find that
microbes appear to be a causative agent in many of our patients and can lead to
"leaky gut", gastrointestinal issues, dermatological issues, endocrine
imbalance, fatigue, respiratory problems, depression, etc,
etc, etc. In other cases though not causative, they
can interfere with making optimal progress with the patient. I have used
Supreme Nutrition Products almost exclusively (99%?) to treat my patients
microbial issues for a number of years. When Dr. Fagenholz
came to me with the idea of mimosa, he was so enthusiastic that we went to our
sources to find samples. He used to have a product he liked but since they
reformulated it he hasn't found it as effective. One source we found tested
very well on my patients as well as other docs patients including Dr Fagenholz. With more and more
environmental challenges effecting our immune system’s ability to resist
infection, our complex patients often do better when placed on multiple anti-microbials according to our test results. We felt adding
another one in our inventory, especially one he felt targeted parasites
(including larger ones) would be a welcome addition.
CASE HISTORY From Sunmok
Kim DC Grand Junction CO
Amy is 49yrs old female who suffered from migraine
headaches for 23yrs. 10 to 12 days/month, she had severe headaches (behind
her left eye usually in the middle of
night). Her M.D. couldn't discern what really triggered
them. He prescribed pain medications.
She tried different specialists as well as a gluten and dairy free diet to
no avail.
The following vials tested positive (AK test kits
1-970-201-7406) Virus2, Bacteria, Babesia,
Bartonella, Ext. Parasite, Borrelia, Helicobacter, Fungus 1, and Candida Albicans. Solanine, Theophylline,
Paraxanthine, Zein, and Gliadin were positive from
the food toxin kit.
Supplements I prescribed: Hemo
Guard Supreme, Schisandra Supreme (Supreme Nutrition),
L-Tyrosine, and Magnesium Aspartate.
She went back to her M.D. for lyme
lab tests (antibody test:Lyme AB screen) and the test
results were positive.
Then, after she started to follow my instructions, she had
only 2 headaches over the next 2 months. The first one was the day that she started taking
the supplements, and second came a month later.
Borrelia still showed positive on the 2nd visit (2weeks
after first visit) and 3rd visit (1mo after 2nd visit). Her symptoms though
decreased dramatically. I added Scutellaria Supreme on second visit and on the
3rd visit I switched to Morinda Supreme, Hemo Guard Supreme and Olive Leaf Supreme (on complex
patients it is not that unusual for antimicrobials to switch like this – ML).
I know usually that lab AB screening can miss lots of
chronic Lyme. But, this time the lab confirmed my suspicions and she has been
doing wonderfully.
Comment from
Michael Taggart DC- Kirkland WA
This email came after Dr. Taggart who has
followed my work for years watched the 2016 DVD. “I had a patient with a
chronic cough for 1 year. She would literally cough every 5 minutes. Medical
evaluation findings, none. Did the basic Lebowitz protocol (did
not use new provocation testing) and she was 20% improved. I was very nervous
that his case would not resolve. I added the new provocation to the
testing and found microbes previously missed. I changed supplements, later
retested again and changed supplements again. We were able to achieve100%
resolution!” (ML-The new protocol does help pick up things occasionally
missed in the past as well as speed up the procedure).
MATERIALS AVAILABLE FROM DR. MICHAEL LEBOWITZ
1. DVD or Vimeo: Treating the Complex
Patient 2016: This seminar, approximately 4 1/2 hours long will teach the
physician a simple to apply, effective protocol to treat patients with chronic
fatigue, allergies, chemical sensitivities, intestinal dysbiosis, (fungal,
bacterial, parasitic, spirochete, and viral infections), food sensitivities,
food toxin intolerance, hypercoagulation problems, toxic metal issues, endocrine
dysfunction, nutritional imbalances, chronic pain and subluxations, fibromyalgia,
etc. The seminar is suited for both the novice and the advanced practitioners
in our work and is much updated from
our last one. A complete set of advanced notes accompanies the DVD. To
order go to http://michaellebowitzdc.com/html/seminar.html
2. Personal Seminars with Dr. Lebowitz:
Dr. Lebowitz teaches seminars to one or two doctors at a time at his offices in
Honolulu, HI and Gig Harbor. This is probably the best way to learn our
protocols with a personalized, hands on experience. Cost is $400 per
physician. For more info or to schedule
call us at 970-623-9565. Noah Lebowitz DC is also available to teach the class.
3. Test Kits
for Dr. Lebowitz protocol - Call Cynthia at AK Test Kits 970 201-7406 or see
our website http://www.michaellebowitzdc.com for more details. These kits will greatly simplify
and speed up your testing making you more efficient and accurate in patient
assessment. These are “diagnostic kits”. Supplement kits are ordered directly

4. Body Restoration
An Owners Manual - An updated and expanded
version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years
ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic
anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple
treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2
explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional
deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health. The book is a great review for the doctor,
but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient. It will give
them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health
and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is
very pro chiropractic. It is available
for $1.99 on kindle at http://www.amazon.com/Body-Restoration-Owners-Manual-ebook/dp/B0050653C4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1353354004&sr=1-1 or in paperback http://www.amazon.com/body-restoration-Dr-Michael-Lebowitz/dp/146100294X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1432251114&sr=8-2&keywords=michael+lebowitz+kapadia
5. Body Restoration Cookbook - This companion volume to the above
book was written by Cynthia Lebowitz and is now available free online
(donations accepted). A wonderful tool
for your patients as it contains almost 100 recipes- most without gluten,
dairy, nightshades, etc. http://www.bodyrestorationanownersmanual.com/html/Cookbook.html
6. God’s Preventative Medicine- my latest book is now available in paperback. It
explains how the Levitical Priests dealt with fungal dysbiosis both
preventatively and treatment wise as well as the reasons behind some of the
other health laws of the Torah. It is a short easy to understand book and
fascinating for the student of health and the Bible http://www.amazon.com/Gods-Preventative-Medicine-Discoveries-Instructions/dp/150892824X/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1432251151&sr=1-2
